"I just had a baby, so I'm having a little trouble finding a bathing suit that I feel comfortable in," is something I said a lot today. But when people asked me how old she was, I found myself embarrassed to say, "Well, I just had a baby about 6 months ago I mean..."
But I feel just as frumpy and fat as I did when I could legitimately say "Oooh well I just had a baby, sooooo.... please excuse my sloppy outward appearance."
During my pregnancy I went from 125 pounds to 185 pounds. Yep, 60 pounds total weight gained. Now I'm somewhere in middle- my big clothes are too big, and my small clothes are too small, and I find myself wearing the same things over and over. I finally had the courage to put away my beloved maternity jeans, because who am I kidding, I am not pregnant anymore!
So that leaves me with a daily dose of leggings (the city girl's sweatpants) and over-sized cardigans. Over, and over...and over.
And when you carry around a little one, forget about accessories. No necklaces, no chunky rings, and definitely no dangly earrings. In fact, you're asking for trouble if you even wear your hair down. Ouch.
Do I have time to blow dry my crazy curly hair to a nice sleek-straight manageable do? Nah. Oh and forget about getting a tan, pssshhh.
I feel so bad for my husband sometimes, welcoming him home in that same fuzzy purple robe each night. Where is the cute stylish girl he met just two years ago?
I guess I'm still in there somewhere... but in the mean time, I'll have to stick to my baggy Target bathing suit. And of course, having a sweet baby girl is worth all the frump in the world.
